Thalassa Collection//Athens

Thalassa Collection // Kolonaki, Athens, Greece.

When in need of a scarf, tie or even a handkerchief this is one place one should check out. I have sourced many of my winter warmers here and I will continue to return and this is not only due to its well crafted merchandise but also because of their window display. This window display below I came across when I was in Athens over the Christmas holidays. I love the way they have taken a few colourful cotton hanks, some plastic bottle caps and pins and have bought to life such a playful and fun window. The merchandise is placed in and around these robot looking cotton creatures, mixing and matching the colours creating a very pleasing effect. This is also a great example of how one can produce a window using a low budget, which is a key skill to have as a visual merchandiser.

Mary Katrantzou LFW A/W 11

I can solemnly say Mary Katrantzou is one of my favourite designers. The patterns used, the colours combined, the cut of the dresses and the styling is impressive. The show looked beautiful.

I added this image below of Chloe Memisevic, as I came across an article discussing the weight and eating disorders of the models, and this was one of the images used from Katrantzou's show. This topic is something that has been around for a very long time but it's highlighted most in the media when the fashion week's of the season start. No one can deny that some of the models on the catwalk look extremely thin and unhealthy and its something that shouldn't go unnoticed. Chloe Memisevic, who is the face of Marc Jacobs, has walked for many top designers here in London, and is considered one of the hottest models of the season. As of this, she is seen as a great influence on the fashion scene which is definitely not the kind of look that should be portrayed and passed on as acceptable. The protruding bones and stick thin limbs also don't do much justice to the garments the models wear.

ParisFashionWeek//1st - 8th Oct 2010

Felicity Brown...The folds, the frills, the creases, the layers, the colours...what else can be said. Although these dresses are from the Paris Fashion Week in October 2010 for the S/S 11 show, I feel i have to add them! These dresses both have a very feminine flare to them. Very wearable pieces and are both perfect for the spring/summer season coming up. Classic and sexy.

I have to pay homage to a Greek designer as well, Mary Katrantzou. In her own words her designs are “a hyperrealist aesthetic, bold graphics and industrial jewellery.” Great patterns that make a bold statement. Very impressive looks.

LondonFashionWeek//18th - 22nd Feb 2011

So...London Fashion Week is coming to an end today. So far the designers have gone, as expected, that extra mile to impress and they never seize to amaze. Here are just a few of the A/W 11 catwalk looks I found really impressive. I would love to make any one of these a part of my wardrobe...

I love how Osman has used these vibrant bursts of colour in his new range. It makes such a statement on both these outfits and they would most certainly make you stand out in a crowd.

Peter Pilotto always seems to have a certain cool about his clothing. Both dresses have a very comfortable and easy flow to them which in turn makes them pieces that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

Sass & Bide, nothing more than SUMMER comes to mind when one even glances at this dress. The bright mix of colours, pattern and flow gives off a great feeling of 'summer ease'. I believe anyone wearing this dress will have the confidence they never knew they had...!

Erdem has created a great combination of textures, combining both the patterns, materials and colour into one. A very sophisticated look is portrayed in these outfits.

Highly Flammable

I came across these "perfumes" today at Church Street Market. This is a fine example of 'brand-kill', none the less you can recognise exactly who they are trying to mimic.
Chamee No5 smelt like a mixture of baby oil and flower incense. Definitely something to keep out of reach of children/adults...!

Phillips de Pury & Company

On Monday night, the 14th of February, I had the opportunity to attend the private viewing of contemporary art at Phillips de Pury & Company's gallery in London, that is due to go on sale at auction. Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Martin Creed, David Lachapelle, are just a few of the artists one could find in this vast gallery space. I managed to take a few photographs of some of the art work but they definitely don't do them any justice.

Excuse the bad quality mobile phone photos.

My View

AbsoluteFlowers, Little Venice, London.

Visual Merchandising. Yes. Not something you hear everyday but you definitely see it everyday, even without realising it. Its something one cannot avoid in our consumer world of today and I am a part of it. All of it. I studied at the University of the Arts London, at the London College of Communication, and I am now a qualified visual merchandiser seeking experience and hopefully in the near future a sustainable job that will allow my creative pulse to flourish into something big and beautiful. Im viewing this blog as a notepad. A diary of some sorts, tracking my progress on this challenging journey. My thoughts, inspirations and aspirations for the future that I can share with you just like other bloggers have shared with me. I hope what I have to say will help you in your own paths.
